The SSI Advanced Diver course is the perfect way to take your diving skills to the next level! With this certification, you’ll be able to dive up to 30 meters (100 feet) anywhere in the world (where local laws allow), without needing professional supervision.
- The course takes just 2 days – or even 1 day if you already have an SSI Specialty Diver certification.
- You’ll complete 5 adventure dives, each focusing on a different skill, like deep diving and navigation.
- Want to keep going? Some of the skills you learn will count towards the SSI Stress & Rescue Diver course if you continue your training!
To enroll in the SSI Advanced Diver course, you’ll need:
- To be at least 12 years old – Younger divers can still participate with a Junior Open Water Diver certification, but their depth limits may be lower.
- An Open Water Diver certification (SSI or an equivalent certification from another recognized agency like PADI, NAUI, etc.). This ensures you already have the basic diving skills needed to go further.

FAQ - SSI Advanced Diver course
This course is an excellent opportunity to expand your diving abilities. You’ll gain more experience, practice in real-world conditions, and develop the confidence to dive safely to greater depths (up to 30 meters/100 feet). By the end of the course, you will have acquired specialized skills that will make you a more skilled and confident diver.
The SSI Advanced Open Water Diver course provides a solid foundation for progressing to further certifications, such as the SSI Rescue Diver or SSI Divemaster. You’ll also gain valuable experience and dive specialty knowledge that will help with more advanced courses.
You will dive to a maximum depth of 30 meters/100 feet during the course. However, keep in mind that your instructor will always ensure your safety and comfort during each dive, so you can progress at your own pace.
The course isn’t physically demanding in a way that would be overwhelming, but you should be in good general health and comfortable with swimming. If you have any concerns, feel free to speak with us before the course begins to discuss any physical limitations you may have.
Once you complete the course and your instructor submits your information, you will receive your SSI Advanced Open Water Diver certification. This usually takes about a week or two, and you’ll be able to dive to a maximum depth of 30 meters anywhere in the world!
After earning your SSI Advanced Open Water Diver certification, you can continue your dive education with more specialized courses like SSI Rescue Diver, SSI Deep Diving, or even work toward becoming a SSI Divemaster. The opportunities for continuing your diving education are endless!
