The Basic Diver course introduces you to the fundamentals of scuba diving in a safe and comfortable setting, with expert guidance from our multilingual instructors.

Day 1 – Pool training
- We start with our confined water session in a safe and controlled pool environment, where you’ll practice essential skills under the supervision of your private instructor.
Day 2 – Open Water Diving experience:
- Once you’re comfortable, you’ll head to the ocean for two open water dives at the stunning Catalina Islands.
- Experience real diving conditions while exploring marine life and refining your skills during 2 dives.
This 2-day course is ideal for those who want to experience scuba diving without committing to a full certification. If you love it, your training can count towards the SSI Basic Diver or Open Water Diver certification!

The SSI Basic Diver is a shorter course that allows you to dive to a max depth of 12 Mts under the supervision of a dive instructor. SSI Open Water Diver is a full certification that allows you to dive up to 18 meters (60 feet) independently after completion.
YES it is an entry level certification that allows you to dove 12 mts/60ft with a dive professional.
If you decide to continue your training with the SSI Scuba Diver or SSI Open Water Diver course, the skills you learn during the Basic Diver can be credited toward these certifications.
It’s a great option if you want to try scuba diving before committing to a full certification. It also offers an unforgettable experience during your stay in Tamarindo.

No, the SSI Basic Diver only allows you to dive with an instructor. If you want to dive independently, you need at least the Open Water Diver certification.
